Council Fishing Derby

Seneca Waterways Council
Scout Fishing Derby
April
J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation

For the price of $23 you will get a hearty pancake breakfast with sausage and a beverage, a morning of fishing with a two-fish limit, a freshly stocked lake and a commemorative event patch. Paid Scouts fish from 8:00 am – 11:00 am (Listen for the cannon’s roar to make your first cast!) Paid Adults fish from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Is fishing not enough? There will be games and challenges for kids, archery, fish cleaning, guided overlook hike, and fly-tying demonstrations all morning long.

Over 100 new fish will be stocked in Lake Wellington in advance of the fishing derby. Your chances of catching a fish are pretty high but not guaranteed. J. Warren Cutler Scout Reservation is a special fishing preserve and a fishing license is NOT required.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 75 youth who catch two fish prior to 11:00 a.m. A special drawing will be held at 11:30 for the Scout derby qualifiers.

Breakfast will be available for $5 to anyone who wants to enjoy a meal but not fish. For an additional $5.00, a hamburger or hot dog lunch will be available from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Bait and lures will be sold on site for your convenience and the Cub Scout Adventure Camp Trading Post will be open.

All you need to do is bring your fishing pole, your own bait if you would like, and join the fun.

Want to make it a weekend? Camping reservations, not included as part of the Fishing Derby fee, must be made and paid separately, using the online reservation system available at senecawaterways.org. Tent campsites are available for groups for $25 and buildings are available if you would like to have some of the comforts of home.

Registration is limited to 650 participants. Parking is limited – please car pool.

Rain or Snow, It’s a Go! No Refunds.

Deadline for registration: April 17, 2017
