Friends of Scouting
"Friends of Scouting" is the annual Seneca Waterways Council, Boy Scouts of America fundraising campaign. Local Scouting and community volunteers who strongly believe that the Scouting program instills the values and ethics that are important to the development of young people lead the campaign. They ask others to join them in making a financial investment in the Seneca Waterways Council, or in other words to become a "Friend of Scouting".
Community Enrollment
Community enrollment deals with local constituents within a community or a district. It has a broad base of local prospects, most of whom have been evaluated at a giving level of $100 or more. This does include several levels of giving within the community phase, since many upper-level givers might want their enrollment to count in their district/section. A prospect strongly linked to, and interested in, the community campaign should be assigned there.
Family Enrollment
The family enrollment is designed specifically for parents of youth members and Scouters connected to local units. Many councils experience significant success with their family enrollment program. The family campaign is an integral part of the parents' ability and interest to support the Scouting program beyond the nominal registration fee.

Matching Gifts From Employers
Many employers/business foundations will match their employees’ charitable contributions. For instance, if you give $500 to the Seneca Waterways Council and your employer had this program, the Council would receive the benefit of $1000. If you are a contributor to the Seneca Waterways Council, or are considering a contribution, check with your employer to see if this program exists or if the employer might be interested in starting it.

The Memorial/Tribute Fund
The Memorial/Tribute Fund of Seneca Waterways Council is a way to recognize the Scouting experiences of a deceased Scout or Scouter. It can also be used to pay tribute to accomplishments in the lives of current Scouts and Scouters. Donations of any amount may be made to recognize a graduation, anniversary, birthday, birth or retirement. All Memorial and Tribute contributors are listed in the Seneca Waterways Current along with the occasion of the gift. The amount of the gift is not listed.

James E. West Fellowship Award
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to the Seneca Waterways Council Endowment Trust Fund. This contribution is in addition to, and does not diminish or replace, the donor’s annual gift to the Council’s Friends of Scouting Campaign.
The award is named after the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America who exemplified Ralph Waldo Emerson’s observation that "an institution is the lengthened shadow of one man." Scouting today is the "lengthened shadow" of more than three decades of the far-seeing and dedicated leadership of Dr. James E. West.
Those who are recognized by the James E. West Fellowship Award will cast their own "lengthened shadow" as they help ensure the Scouting legacy for future generations of young people and create the financial stability of the program in the twenty-first century for the Seneca Waterways Council.
To support Scouting is to provide opportunity for growth - of character, of experience and of leadership.
