For Boy Scouts
Scouts register for summer camp through their troop. Talk to your Scoutmaster to find out when your troop is attending camp, and then sign up for the fun! (Venture crews can also attend camp - speak with your crew advisor.)
Not a Boy Scout?
Only registered Scouts can attend Scout camp. If you're not a Scout, summer camp is a great reason to join! For more information on Scouting in Monroe , Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates Counties call (585) 244-4210.
Paying For Camp - 2012
Your Scoutmaster or crew advisor will explain the camp fees, when payments are due. One week at camp costs $310.00 for most Scouts (those in Seneca Waterways Council units that registered by December 1 and those in out-of-council units returning for their consecutive year that registered by December 1.) A second week costs an additional $285.00 (for Scouts in the units mentioned previously). The fee for the adult leaders who attend camp for the week is $140.00.
By December 1, 2011 NO PER PERSON FEES ARE DUE! A total of $100 per Unit is due, which will hold your Troop reservation until March 15, 2012. Also $100 per Scout (non-refundable) and $50 per leader (non-refundable) is due by March 15, and the balance (non-refundable) by May 16. A late fee of $25.00 (per Person) is charged for each receipt received after May 16. If brothers attend summer camp, then each brother receives a $25.00 discount on the camp fee. Special programs such as Mountain Fox may include extra fees.
Massawepie Scout Camps is a bargain. Many private camps cost at least $550.00, or even much more, for a week. Many Scout camps in our area cost more than Massawepie! Even so, we recognize that some families will have difficulty paying for camp, despite the fundraising efforts of their troops. Seneca Waterways Council Scouts who need financial help may apply for a campership through their troop.
Campership applications are treated in a confidential manner, and are due no later than April 15, 2012. Camperships are determined by a committee based on need, and normally cover a maximum of 50% of the total camp fee.
Troop Registration
Troops may register for summer camp by completing and returning a "Massawepie Camp Application" available for download on the Forms page. Please be aware that in order to maintain program quality, and to avoid overcrowding of the dining facilities, registration must be limited. Registrations are accepted on a first come first served, "space available" basis, starting at the Here's How sessions in April each year.
Typically, more space is available in Week 1 and Week 6 than in other weeks. Also, dining hall space fills up faster than patrol cooking space. Register early, and consider attending Week 1 or 6 or doing patrol cooking.
Massawepie's growing popularity is wonderful, but please be flexible while the Seneca Waterways Council explores ways to increase capacity without affecting program quality.
Adirondack High Adventure Trek Center
All prices subject to change for 2012. Massawepie runs High Adventure treks for groups from troops (Boy Scout and Girl Scout), crews and councils. These are designed for older youth participants that must be 13 by January 1 of the year of participation. Please see the Adirondack High Adventure Trek Center online for details about trek group size, requirements, and costs.
To register a group for trek, submit the Trek Group Application (available for download on the Trek Resource page) and a $300.00 deposit (non-refundable).
For registration questions, contact the Seneca Waterways Council Servicenter. A minimum of two qualified leaders must be in charge during the unit's stay in camp. At least one leader must be over 21; the other may be a responsible leader 18 or older. Boy Scout and Leader fees are nonrefundable, but may be transferred to an individual not yet registered to attend.
